Men's Book Study
Proverbs 27:17 – “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.”
Luke 24:32f. – “Did not our hearts burn within us while He talked to us on the road, while He opened to us the Scriptures?”
Dear reader, we thank you for your interest in our study of God’s holy Word. We are a group of men, both young and old in years as well as young and old in our Christian walk. We seek the fellowship of other like-minded individuals to gather and learn of God’s grace and truth given to us in the Scriptures, to sharpen one another and help one another fight the good fight of faith. We strive for a casual and interactive atmosphere in which all are encouraged to contribute. Above all, we seek to keep our study Biblical, for it is Scripture that is profitable for teaching, reproof, correction and training in righteous so that we may be equipped for every good work (2 Tim 3:16-17).
At present, we are working through a book study on Lou Priolo’s The Complete Husband. In our April study, we concluded a long look at Chapter 4, discussing many of the pitfalls that husbands or any man could succumb to during conflict with others. We discussed how we may exhume the sins of our wives we have professed to forgive, how we might sinfully scold or put down, or be overly harsh in dealing with our wives. With Scriptural reinforcement, we encouraged one another not simply to avoid these pitfalls but to press forward in an offensive against our sin and strive to maintain the unity of Spirit that Paul exhorts us to in Ephesians 4:3.
Next month, we will discuss results of the biblical communication inventory on pages 82-83, as well as begin Chapter 5, "How to Love Your Wife: Part One."
All men who would like to learn more about God’s Word and who seek fellowship and encouragement from other men are welcome to join us. We meet every third Thursday of the month; you can contact the church office at 973-334-5045 for more details if you would like to attend.
